I know it’s been too long i haven’t post anything, because my laptop is getting on my nerves any how I’m here with something really interesting. I have been thinking about interviewing fashion icons and designers and artist, and so i thought why not interview freshly graduate designers. Here is the interview of one of my pifd’s friend Samiyan Khan who recently got graduated from (Pakistan institute of fashion and design) as a jewelry designer. Let’s see what he has to say about his entire journey.
- 1: What made you choose Jewelry Designing as career?
All I wanted in my life was learning with freedom. A designer is not bound to a particular subject or job. So I decided to become a designer. But why I chose jewellery designing because our province is full of natural Gems which I can use in my jewellery collections, other then that, I had knowledge and skill like Gemology and Lapidary before joining PIFD.
- 2: Samiyan you belong to a Pathan family, being a jewelry design student have you ever experienced any difficulties so far??
The time has changed and i have never faced any difficulties from my friends or family side, with respect to my profession. They always support and appreciated me as well as they feel proud of me.
- 3: What was the toughest challenge you have ever faced?
My thesis, I worked on “Technological Jewellery” first time in Pakistan,Fitting programmed electronic circuits in metallic jewellery on miniature level and designing them to perform different function as well as keeping jewellery aesthetically pleasing was challenging. But by the Grace of Allah successfully completed my thesis.
- 5: which one is your favorite piece from you collection?
That is contemporary design Brooch from my thesis collection inspired from technology. Which is a glowing rechargeable brooch which also connects to your cell phone via Bluetooth. So at a distance from your cell phone you can receive your calls and listen music
- 6: The biggest lesson that you have learned since you started you jewelry studies?
Here I will quote Paulo Coelho “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it “Because I have experience it not just when I started jewellery studies but throughout my life.
- 7: One word for (PIFD) ?
- 8: As a fresh graduate student, what advice would you give to the upcoming students especially from KPK and to the boys?
We have enough engineers, doctors, IT and business specialists but we don’t have enough designers for our country especially in KPK. We can empower our nation through introducing new trends and products in fashion industry, and that’s how we can create awareness and a better image of our Country.
I HOPE YOU GUYS ENJOYED IT. I’LL BE POSTING SOME MORE INTERESTING THINGS STAY TUNED.
